Still practicing what I teach:

My current incarnation as a design educator leaves me precious little time to do very much design work (other than designing curriculum). However, I took a leading role in the development of a board initiative to develop specific “centers of excellence” within my previous school, BCIS in Beijing. Technology being identified as such a center of excellence, I was asked to develop a concept to redevelop areas of the existing school campus into a modern, airy space to maximize efficiency, provide first class teaching spaces, more akin to a professional multi-disciplinary design studios than classrooms, and showcase best practices. The design underwent a number of iterations over a number of months culminating in the final design concept which is presented below:

 

In addition, I have, from time to time, worked on special in-house commissions to develop custom furniture pieces for specific purposes within the educational environment. A selection of work I have developed over the last few years is contained in the gallery below.
